  • I try not to bitch...
    but i'm going to anyway.

I'm over foodies who don't have the technical skill or knowledge to boil an egg.
I'm over foodies who overuse the word 'marry'.
I'm over foodies who think tasting is all about criticising.

    Above all:
I'm over foodies who can't cook, but will bitch about dishes cooked by top chefs.

I'm overly sensitive.  And being a bitch myself.  I love a good bitch.   Really I just needed to vent.

There was something about customer service (not the customers) I wanted to bitch about but I guess that'll have to wait for another day.

Actually there was this one customer who annoyed the F out of a restaurant and all the staff up in QLD (I was a customer also).  This lady, what a joke...  Yeah, that's another thing.

  • I realised that if I don't blog everyday, I actually have something to talk about.
Tomorrow I'm presenting electronic communications in organisations, but actually I'd rather be blogging.
Whatev.  I did finish it.  Tomorrow I'll print off the slides and I'm thinkin of going to Safeway.  They sell these cupcakes for a dollar.  That'll do for a prize.

I picked up a nasty cold which couldn't have come at a worse time.  Especially since I did my midsemester exam today.  But I did ok 89%, I was annoyed I didn't get over 90.  So damn annoyed.

Tomorrow is my brother's graduation so I'll go and get him a graduation bear.  Yay.  That's why we graduate right?

So my head is stuffy and I've been having 5 hrs afternoon naps on top of my 10 hrs sleep at night, leaves me not much time in the day to do other stuff.  I want all my assignments out of the way so I can cram, cram, cram for exams.  I want to do well so badly.  To make up for all the lost years spent f'ing about.

  • Ok I can't wait for tonight.  I'll get to see my best friend I haven't caught up with in about 2 months.  Until then I'm trying to get through my essay.  I just got a clipping out of the paper about wages in Australia.  Miners are paid the highest ($1881 a week) while Accomodation and food industry workers are on $474 a week.  That's alright.  Wages will probably rise under a new award system for hospitality workers.  I don't care as long as I have enough to live off and get enough groceries to cook and eat out.

My brother loves lasagne so I made about 6 of these.  I ran out of bechamel sauce and was too lazy to make some more.  Next time I'll have heaps.

It's nice outside I'd better take my dog out.

I feel pretty good today - nothing to complain about.

  • Psyched about the snow

I can't wait.  I'll be off to New Zealand to go boarding with my brothers and my brother's girlfriend.  I love holidays.  I love packin a bag and living out of it, not having much, but enough to sustain me.  I'm really excited because I'm getting a new helmet this year!  And I want to buy a stupid helmet cover too.  Like teddy bear ears, or a lion.. stupid fun stuff.  I love it.  Also hope to learn some new things on the mountain and take lots of pictures and be a tourist off the mountain.

This is my Red Devil's Cake (chocolate cake).  I pretty much ate the whole thing myself over 3 days.  Yeah it was alright I guess.

    Next on my list:
    1. Chocolate chip cookies
    2. Quiche Lorraine
    3. Sticky toffee pudding
    4. Herb-crusted rack of lamb
I need to make less sweet stuff.
    And whatever...

I feel tired and a bit miserable
I want that time of month to just get it over with.

  • Slackin off in the kitchen

I realised I can't cook in the kitchen with my mum.  It really frustrates me the way she cooks.  It took half an hour for her to whip up a spaghetti marinara.  I think she flusters at the thought of how many people she's cooking for.

I like to have everything on paper before I cook.  From the moment of mise en place I watch the clock to see how long it takes me to pull it together.  I like the challenge of prepping multiple things at the same time.  I've had disasters too - not watching the bread, setting the timer/temp wrong, using strainers that are at the end of their shelf life, not being able to find things because they're not in the right place, letting whipped egg whites sit too long, getting interrupted by phone calls, not defrosting things in time, cutting myself, burning myself, tripping over my dogs, stupid stuff like that.

Today I went and bought a bacon hock ($7) and 2 bags of split peas ($4 but I only needed one) for split pea and ham soup.  It was easy to prep, it just took forever to cook.  The shredded meat off the bone was beautiful, I had never tried it before.  I garnished with sippets.  And froze down about 6 portions which will go down quick seeing as the weather's cooling down.

I went out in the middle of the night with my brother for Macca's as usual.  I don't know how he can eat that stuff anymore after we got sick from it a couple of weeks ago.  I love their caramel latte frappes.  I love iced coffee.

Freakin out a bit.  Uni starts again soon and I'ma  little behind on the assignments.
I really gotta get out of the house more.  ANZAC day soon.  I should go out.
